The Big Race
Have you heard
About the Big Race?
It’s the one with the crown
When Jesus we face.
Like any race
There are things to know
Preparation is a must
Before we go.
The things to know,
Where are they found?
Right there in the Bible book,
Truth that is pillar and ground.
Studying the Book
I learned what to do
Wow! What a great race
I want to teach others too!
Following God’s Word
Obeying His commands
On the mark, set, go
The race began.
But hurdles come
To slow me down
I will not be hindered
As I go for the crown.
I’ve run so long
I’m tired and worn
But I can’t stop now
Gabriel hasn’t blown his horn.
Jesus is strong, providing help
I continue to run In the Big Race
I sprint to the finish, winning the crown
When I behold The Lord’s glorious face!

The Spring 2013 Issue’s theme is “The Big Race”. All the articles in this issue are written by women from the same family. From the matriarch Vella Puckett to her great-granddaughter Meagen, these women set the example of not only running the race but supporting each other and encouraging others along the way.
We, the FWNL team, hope you are uplifted, strengthened, and motivated by the articles this family has shared with us.
Sisterhood
Sisterhood
by Pam Savage
A physical sister is a gift indeed
A sister in Christ is a blessing we need
Someone who shares the Christian walk
Who knows when to listen and when to talk
She will know your burdens & your cares
She will lift you up when her love she shares
A Christian sister is precious in God’s sight
In her, all will see His shining light
She knows God’s word is a priceless treasure
The “only” standard by which to measure
Christian sisters will teach their children His word, morning, noon & night
For they know this is the only way their little lives will turn out right
Serving others is always on her mind
Searching for ways to be loving, caring & kind
The bond of Christian sisters is like no other
Together we strive to be a Godly daughter, friend, wife and mother
A serving Christian sister is a blessing tis true
Pray that God & others will find this trait in me and in you

Precious Crimson Stream
Precious Crimson Stream
By Kristin Haden
Sweet escape. God, I want out.
I deserve to be vomited out of your mouth.
Indecisive at best, flat rebellious at worst.
I’m a wretched sinner, Lord, but You loved me first.
Can I still be redeemed? Is there any grace left?
Oh merciful God, take this load off my chest.
For I am too weak, too small, and too quiet
to resist, fight off, band together in riot.
But if God is for me, who can be against?
Perhaps all this time I’ve been riding the fence.
I choose this day whom I’ll serve no longer.
“Get thee behind me, Satan!” My God and I are stronger.
Now I remember what my knees are for.
It’s been a while since I was down on this floor.
Well, here I am, Lord, exhausted, worthless, broken.
But I fully believe every word you have spoken.
Refill me, restore me. Oh God, I repent.
I’ve turned away from Your Son, the great sacrifice you sent.
I am oh-so-sorry for the way I’ve been going.
Here’s the real me, no secrets, for You are all-knowing.
Wash me clean again please,
with that precious crimson stream.
May your precious blood wash away my sin.
So I can live righteously, upstanding again.

I AM
I Am
Connected to His humanness,
Awed by His Godly prefection,
Humbled by His willingness,
Thankful for His coming,
Grieved for the pain He suffered,
Sorrowed for adding to His burden,
Indebted for my sins being paid,
Free for my sins have been removed,
Overjoyed at His resurrection,
Impowered by His victory,
Hopeful for our future together,
Loved…because he first loved me!

Poems Written At Different Times In My Life After Spiritual “Spring Cleaning”
Hopefully, we have all learned to self-evaluate and set things right every day. But with our busy lives, it’s so easy to let that time get lost in the shuffle. Here are three
poems written at different times in my life after spiritual “spring cleaning” and self evaluation, realizing I had gotten off the path and needed forgiveness of God as well as my spiritual family. May they touch your heart in their reading as they touched mine in the writing.
Today’s A New Day!
Sometimes I stumble and feel that I’ll fall.
It’s like I’m not really a Christian at all.
I act the part, and wear the name,
Say all the right words, like playing a game.
The love is there, but it’s buried so deep.
It has to be there! Right now it’s asleep.
I know there’s a God. That he’s in control.
But now I’m weary and out of touch with my soul.
I’ve walked away. I’ve put God aside,
Though I know I must with Him abide.
All I can do now is get down on my knees
And fervently ask, yes beg, God to please,
Please help my heart be refreshed and new.
For I want to be loyal, and faithful and true.
But sometimes I slow down in working for God.
So slow I do get, that my walk is a plod.
But life is much more than plodding along.
As a child of God, my life is a song!
So why do I stumble? Why do I fall?
Because I’m mere mortal and on God I must call.
For He is my strength , THAT I believe
And His love and power I can truly receive.
But now I must ask that God will forgive,
And help me be stronger and for Him live.
For again I stumbled and lost my way,
But God’s leading me back…
Today’s A New Day!
Awakened!
Awakened! Renewed! I’m alive again!
I’m back in God’s way, forgiven of sin.
To those around me, I did not appear wrong,
But deep in my heart I’ve known for so long,
That my heart’s not been right.
Sometimes I do that, I simply lose sight
And try to run on, yes, ahead of God.
But then running is hard and turns to a plod
And life becomes weary, the pathway rough,
Whatever I do, it’s never enough.
But now I’m renewed, awakened, alive
To be stronger for God and in hope revive
Those promises given to me by God.
I’ll lean on his arms ‘till I rest ‘neath the sod.
Cleanse My Heart, O God.
Cleanse My Heart, O God.
Make me clean and pure,
That I might make my calling and election sure.
“Grant me the joy of Thy salvation”,
Grant me a heart of peace.
Grant me strength to live through life’s trials
And know that someday they’ll cease.
Turn my eyes ever upward, Lord;
That Heaven be always my goal,
That someday I’ll walk and talk with my Lord,
In that beautiful Home of soul.
